My heart.

Welcome to my blog!
I'm really glad you're here.

My name is Kaitlyn, and I'm 25 years old.

After years of blog-reading and rediscovering my love of handmade, hands-on cuteness, I decided to join the blogging community. I really love shared inspiration, encouragement, and feeling fully alive. For me, quiet moments of introspection and creativity seem to breathe life -- and it's been fun discovering that regularly taking pictures, making handmade gifts, taking mini adventures, baking, and learning new skills really allows me to connect with my true self. This blog is a part of being true to myself.

I am currently in grad school at FSU, working toward my Masters in Social Work. After graduating with my BSW in 2009, I spent a semester working at a substance abuse outpatient center in Orlando and learned new things about addiction and recovery. I then moved to a small, coastal town in Central Florida, to work with a non-profit organization called To Write Love on Her Arms. I got to travel a ton, work with incredible people, and grow tremendously. Tragically, during this time I experienced the truest realities of addiction and recovery with my best friend in the entire world. We lost her to suicide on May 7, 2010. I miss her daily, and her beautiful, powerful story is continually changing mine.

I have the best family in the world. My parents have helped me become the woman I am today. I am the oldest of three kids, and I love my brother and sister so much. They are the kindest, smartest, wittiest and most hilarious people on earth, and I love when we get the chance to all be together in the same state/city.

I am engaged to a very nautical, adventurous boy named Harbor. (Cute, right?) He's gentle, strong and wise, and exceptionally sweet to me. He loves writing, Florida-history, surfing, traveling, hardcore, riding bikes and eating sweets. And I like learning from him. We're in love.

I have a cat named Mister Matilda the Hun Joaquin Phoenix Worms Whitmire III. But, we call her Matilda for short. Or Little Tiny. (Or Little Medium. Or Bread Loaf. Or Sweet Girl.) Well, you get the idea. I love her a lot.

And, above all, I am a follower of Christ. In the times I feel as if I don't know who I am, I look to the One who knows me best; it's my prayer that by getting to know me, you'll be getting to know Him.

Thanks for stopping by!
